Illustrated cultural tourism map & leaflet design of East Devon
Freeway Projects was commissioned to design a Cultural Tourism Map for East Devon District Council. This project aims to promote East Devon as a unique destination offering a wealth of culture and natural beauty, and to mutually benefit and grow the creative and visitor economies.
The map design is based on a version we designed for East Devon Excellence but modifed to promote the arts, music and cultural heritage sites in East Devon.
Bespoke illustrations key to map design
This was a fantastic project to be working on and we really enjoyed the creative brief of designing bespoke illustrations of key buildings, statues and other famous resources linked to arts and culture in the East Devon region. For example, the map features the Thelma Hulbert Gallery, Fairlynch Museeum, Seaton Tramway, Killerton House, Cadhay and the unique 16-sided Georgian house A La Ronde – see if you can find them on the map!
The map also features numbered markers, which are explained in the printed leaflet or in the online map resource, available to download from eastdevon.gov. The map can also be seen on digital displays in variuos tourist locations in and around East Devon.

“Thank you for producing and distributing such an excellent leaflet“
“The layout of the leaflet and map deserve top marks for simplicity, it is very user friendly and a welcome change from the ‘Visit Sidmouth’ style we are used to.”
“We believe that this leaflet, with its wide distribution throughout East Devon, has significantly increased the number of visitors to Sidmouth Museum in the first few weeks of this season, some have mentioned the East Devon Cultural Map, even producing a copy.”
