The Shark Trust’s No Limits? campaign highlights the urgent need to introduce science-based catch limits for unmanaged shark species. No Limits? focuses on Blue Sharks and Shortfin Makos. These are highly migratory species mainly caught on the high seas, and therefore are in need of international management.
The Move4Makos campaign is part of the No Limits? campaign and is focusing on the overfishing of the Shortfin Mako shark, which is extremely vulnerable as it matures late (18yrs) and produces few young (4-25 pups). Harrowing statistics show that if not controlled this species is likely to become extinct – even if landings are cut to zero, Shortfin Makos have only a 54% chance of recovery by 2040.
Website campaign solution
Freeway Projects designed and developed the No Limits? website and the logo identity for the Move4Makos campaign. The website’s aim is to raise awareness and to get the public involved; to help and take part in this campaign by “move a mile” to take a virtual tonne off the latest Shortfin Mako landings data. You can do this by walking, running, cycling, swimming, climbing or any other activity of your choice – join #Move4Makos to show your support and to move this campaign forward! You can also upload your photo on the website’s photo wall to show your support.
The website is using the WordPress platform with a bespoke design.
We also designed a series of printed campaign materials such as roller banners and posters for the Move4Mako campaign.
